Summer book performance

Katia Waegemans and Sybil Van Torre will present and sign their latest book on this evening.

Katia Waegemans is the founder of The Venice Insider, a leading travel blog for all who want to visit Venice. Having already published a successful guide to the Art Biennale last year, last month she explored the Architecture Biennale 2025. In her latest travel guide, she brings a personal selection of 26 pavilions and installations that set the tone this year. With the overarching theme Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective. by curator Carlo Ratti as a guide, she lucidly explains how these projects tell a story about the future of building and living together.

In addition, the guide offers practical information to make a visit to the Biennial smooth and memorable. Think ticket prices, opening times and locations. Interestingly, eight of the selected pavilions are located in the city itself and can be visited without an entrance ticket. This is a unique opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Biennale while walking through Venice. In late 2024, Katia also published "Walks in Venice. In the footsteps of 9 locals'.

Sybil Van Torre is the founder of Be More Dog, a publisher of inspirational nonfiction books for bon vivants who love to travel and soak up local culture. After a solo trip of 6,000 kilometers in the summer of 2024 near our southern neighbors, she wrote a book about the revival of guinguettes: the typical French open-air bars full of music, local food and relaxation along rivers and quiet roads.

In "Guinguettes à gogo," she brings together her love of slow travel, slow food, French culture and stories. At the same time, she uncovers their (centuries!) of history, their social dimension and the role of local governments. The combination of interviews, journalistic articles and over 150 atmospheric photos made it into a travel, viewing and reading book that guides you along seventy guinguettes, away from mass tourism. And, of course, the accommodation addresses, places of interest, cycling and walking routes could not be missed.

Participation is free. Please do sign up in advance at sybil@uitgeverijbemoredog.be or at katia@theveniceinsider.com so we can provide drinks for everyone ;-)
